Taranaki Outdoor Adventures was inspired by our twin passions for the outdoors and people, along with the incredible opportunities that Taranaki had to offer.

Starting the company in 2002 we focused on outdoor education for schools and private training establishments in this region. Outdoor education for youth has always been a major concern for us.

After an very successful year with great references from all the schools that we worked with we noticed a lack in the tourism industry for the wonderful outdoor activities/adventures that Taranaki had to offer.

So our adventure tourism division started, with unique to the region activities such as Dam Dropping, Kayaking the Mokau River, Sea kayaking the Sugar Loaf Marine Reserve, Paritutu Traverse, surfing, abseiling, rockclimbing and Mount Taranaki.

In December 2002 we were asked to organise activities for all the Japanese extras and film crew that were here for the filming of The Last Samurai movie with Tom Cruise. That was an amazing summer with perfect weather and sunsets, now fondly remembered as the Samurai summer!

Since then we have been approached by numerous large companies wanting adventure team building for their staff, this lead to the Corporate Adventure Division being set up. This is now our largest market and one which we excel in because we have a large network of fantastic operators that can make anything happen. So try us you will not be disappointed.

Now we are launching our active staff programs that are taken over a longer period of time to decrease stress, improve productivity, and reduce health costs for the companies that we work with. So if you would like to make a commitment to your staff to keep them active and healthy contact us.
